Description

You’ve started with deploying online content, but you know you are maximizing the reach, effectiveness and ROI of your investments.  As an NGO, your online strategy may likely be targeting external communities as a critical part of your mission, as well as developing online and programs to develop the capacity of your internal staff.  All of which may be constrained by a variety of contextual and technological limitations.

You also have a number of internal stakeholders to engage in the development of your strategy, but these stakeholders have a wide variety of background and experiences with online learning.

In this workshop, you will be identify the key activities that you need to plan for as well as identify the key decisions points in order to build and launch an effective strategy. The plan and decisions will be based on your starting point as an organization. This will be a hands-on activity designed so that you can leave with a draft outline for blueprint for your own strategic planning process, while learning from like-minded colleagues who share similar contexts and constraints.

  • Know how to identify your baseline tool-kit: your existing content, your team of internal and external resources, your level of organizational buy-in and the relationship of the strategy to the overarching organizational goals
  • Be able to map your existing content, resources, practices, and assets to a future online strategy;
  • Identify internal gaps in knowledge about online learning and prepare a strategy for using internal and external resources to “level set” the baseline knowledge and common understanding of the goals and objectives of the strategy
  • Identify the key inflection points and stakeholders in developing a strategy and create the ideal conditions for success of your strategy with the stakeholder group;
  • Identify external tools and resources that can help guide a strategic planning process;

Description

For years, we have known that an employee’s relationship with his or her direct manager is the most important single factor in employee engagement.  Engaged employees are happier and more productive.  Disengaged employees are frustrated and more disruptive.   Furthermore, respected, well-trained managers boost morale and improved morale boosts retention.

And yet, while it is generally recognized that the employee/manager relationship is the most important driver of engagement, many organization lack programs that prepare line managers to manage staff effectively, fairly and in line with the organization’sDev e goals and objectives.

In this workshop, learners will answer a series of questions that help them navigate the seven steps to creating a blueprint strategy for a management development program in their organization.   Sessions will rely extensively on participatory activities and  case studies from multiple agencies (an illustrative list includes Save the Children UK, Islamic Relief, Management Sciences for Health, FHI360.)
